HOA advocate Jonathan Friedrich Running for Nevada State Senate

Posted By CotoBlogzz

Rancho Santa Margarita, CA  Some four years ago we jokingly announced that Jonathan Friedrich, an HOA advocate we called “The HOA Superman,” had joined the dark side when Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval appointed him to the Nevada Commission for Common-Interest Communities and Condominium Hotels.

At that time we wrote “ Jonathan Friedrich, an outspoken lobbyist for homeowners' rights on June 27, 2011 filed an ethics complaint against the  Nevada Common Interest Community Commission, and the next day  served the Nevada Real Estate Division administrator Gail Anderson with a summons.  Or as Hubble Smith of the Las Vegas Review Journal writes in a piece titled HOA Advocate files ethics complaintSomebody's got to fight for the little guy, and when it comes to homeowners' rights, Jonathan Friedrich looks like Superman -- just a little on the short and thin side, and without the muscle”

Last Session Mr. Fried Rich was successful in getting two Legislators to sponsor Bills that would protect owners in Homeowner Associations.  That effort was successful, legislation made it through and were signed into law by the Governor.

In one of his latest exploits, Mr. Friedrich celebrates a District Court Judge’s ruling in his favor denying HOA Rancho Bel Air an appeal for $ 5,000.00 sanctions by hanging 31 foot long banner from his roof.

I asked Mr. Friedrich why he was successful when most homeowners fail:  “I was Successful in beating Rancho Bel Air because what they have done since 1978 has been illegal and they left a LONG PAPER TRAIL so that I could PROVE IT!,” according to Mr. Friedrich.

Now, Mr. Friedrich is running for The Nevada State Senate District 3 (Las Vegas area,” and promises that if elected he will do a lot more to stop the abuses in homeowner associations in the state. While you may think that this is just a Nevada issue, you may just be wrong.  The HOA industry – CAI, ECHO, CACM  and so on, lobby for the industry at the local, state and national level.  I would expect they would go after Mr. Friedrich with a vengeance:  One small victory for the homeowner of Nevada is a huge leap for the homeowner in the country.

We often say that to donate to a candidate is so easy, a caveman can do it, but to reach him when elected takes a lobbyist.  In the case of Mr. Jonathan Friedrich, he has been an HOA advocate and we are sure he will continue to fight the good battle.
